I recently decided to go forego the creamy crack and go back to my natural roots. It’s been a few months, and while I am in the transitioning phase, my go-to styles are braids and weaves.
When my latest weave hairstyle was feeling a little dry and dehydrated, and since my budget wasn’t ready to drop some stacks on new bundles, I started researching methods to restore the moisture back to my weave. I came across the popular Apple Cider Vinegar treatment that can be used for both weave and natural hair. The treatment is of course a little smelly, but it’s super simple and it totally works. It also relieves itchy, irritated scalps. All you have to do is saturate your hair with a mixture of equal parts water and apple cider vinegar, and leave it on your hair for at least 30 minutes with a shower cap. After you thoroughly rinse it out, follow that step with your favorite conditioner for an additional 30 minutes, rinse and style as usual. I also use this treatment after I take down my braids as well to remove dandruff and product build up.
As this treatment is starting to gain in popularity, I’ve noticed that some hair companies are coming up with their own version of the treatment.
As an avid listener of the podcast The Friend Zone, once I stumbled upon HeyFranHey’s video tutorial, I was sold. Take a look and let me know if it has worked for you!
