In lieu of April’s 20 questions (yes, I am late again) I thought I would compile a list of all the things Black people can no longer do while living, breathing, and occupying space in America. Apparently, there has been a surge of individuals calling police enforcement on people of color for doing everyday things. I only have a few incidents so far, but its only May so I’m sure the colonizers will not disappoint us. (Update: I was able to add four additional microaggressions only a few hours after compiling the initial list.)
Black people can no longer rent an Airbnb without being accused of robbing the residence.
Black people can no longer study for finals in their own dorm.
Black people can no longer wait for a friend at Starbucks.
Black people can no longer exercise in peace.
Black people can no longer rest their arms on armrests on airplanes
Black people can no longer try on clothes at a retail store before making a purchase.
Black people can no longer play golf.
Black people can no longer shop for prom clothes.
Black people can no longer move into their own apartments.
Black people can no longer use coupons at restaurants, retail stores, or drug stores.
Black people can no longer pay for a meal after they have eaten at a restaurant.
Black people can no longer BBQ in the park.
Black People can no longer take a walk in the park with their children.
Black People can no longer sell bottles of water on a hot day.
Black People can no longer mow lawns.
Black People can no longer speak to their own children during sporting events.
Black People can no longer exit a store.
Black People can no longer babysit.
Black People can no longer eat lunch in a cafeteria.
Black People can no longer give food to the homeless.
Black People can no longer foul during a game of basketball.
Black People can no longer perform the tasks of their own job.
Black People can no longer listen to CDs in their cars.
